Spencer Caizley explains the Quickbase System to Nick Knowles.
A Quickbase Foundation was used to solve poor access and ground conditions for the DIY SOS Big Build in Littlehampton. Working with Anglian Conservatories, Quickbase helped overcome the problems on site to help provide the project with a new conservatory as part of the family home.
Project for DIY SOS was a short notice request from Anglian Conservatories with only 1 weeks notice due to the filming timescales. On arriving on site we found 40 tonnes of rubble blocking the site.
In order to complete the project in the 9 allotted days we had to design, manufacture and deliver the base to site, prior to having an understanding of the complex geotechnical issues. The first piles were driven on day 2.
Piles were driver to approx 12 meters before we hit ground of sufficient bearing capacity. Once capacity was proven we started the base assembly, this was completed in 8 hours. Anglian started erecting the conservatory within minutes of the base installation being completed. At the same time the DIY SOS team were using the base as a work station for carpenters and plasterers.
DIY SOS were stunned at the speed of installation and the impressive engineering behind the system.
Quickbase demonstrated their ability to install fully engineered foundations in the most difficult conditions in record breaking time.
